The Cappies, "Critics and Awards Program," is a program through which high school theatre and journalism students are trained as critics, attend shows at other schools, write reviews, and publish those reviews both locally and through the Cappies program.  

 

At the end of the season, the student critics vote for awards that are presented at a formal Cappies Gala held at the Hippodrome in Baltimore in May. Each nominated school performs a short excerpt from its show on stage at the Cappies Gala.
