Every year the organization chooses a nonprofit charity to support throughout the year through fundraising and collections at performances. Last year, the Thespians raised over $14,000 for Sarah's House. The troupe is the 2018 recipient of the Anne Lindsey Otenasek Youth Service Award.  Lindsay was an energetic, teenaged Catholic Charities volunteer when she died in the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, in 1988. The youth service award in her name honors and perpetuates her spirit and personal commitment to helping others. It is given to a high school or college individual or group that shows outstanding volunteer commitment to Catholic Charities. READ MORE HERE.

SPHS Thespian Troupe #2476

We are a part of the International Thespian Society (ITS), an honorary drama organization for high school theatre students. The mission of ITS is to honor student excellence in the theatre arts.

Congratulations to Thespian Troupe #2476!

2019 THESPIAN CHARITY INFORMATION

For 2018-2019, the charity is the Marley Elementary School Drama Club. Marley is a Title I elementary school, and because they have an extremely limited budget, they aren't able to put on productions. We believe that when children are given an outlet to express themselves and delve into what they are capable of, it can often improve academic performance as well as their outlook on life in general. We will be providing support through mentoring, as well as providing funding for equipment and the rights to a Disney Junior show. Thank you for your support!

HOW TO BECOME A THESPIAN

Students can become a member of the Thespian Troupe by earning points through participation in stage events in middle school, high school, and community theater.  Please see the Thespian Points Outline for point credit for various types of events.

Once a students earns 10 points, they may apply for induction into the SPHS Thespian Troupe #2476. Students are required to attend monthly meetings to maintain membership in good standing. Monthly meetings are held on the first Monday of each month from September through June. Formal inductions are held at the end of each school year. Senior cords are also distributed at that time.
